Share Beirut by Night: First Confirmed Music Acts
Finally, the first part of this October’s SHARE Beirut music program has been confirmed. It will be dominated by cutting-edge contemporary electronic music performed by both international and regional artists whose influence is reshaping the international scene and its trends.
One of the underground Beirut theaters will host Tim Exile, classically educated violinist with a degree in philosophy and master’s degree in electro-acoustic composition who performs intelligent dance music with sounds sent to him by no other than local fans and conference participants. He develops his own equipment to program effects and music sequences in real time, heavily shaking the dancefloors on top of that.
Later on the same night, but at a different venue, Detroit born and Berlin based producer Jimmy Edgar will perform an energetic and sleazy electro-funk set on the edge of glitch pop and futuristic retro R&B, a mix of his music released on influental labels as Warp, !K7 and Hotflush.
Jace Clayton aka DJ /rupture from New York will not only throw an eclectic set blending different styles of electronic and club music, but he will also speak during Share by Day conference program, since he is becoming a well known voice on the blog scene with musical and non-musical content on his 'Mudd Up!' project website.
Also, two prominent Egyptian acts have been confirmed. Three piece electro-acoustic band Bikya, playing creative fusion of styles from trip hop and folkotronica to drum and bass will present one part of Cairo alternative scene, while another one will be showcased by more electro-techno influenced Wetrobots performing alongside with outspoken female front-woman Bosaina.
The night program will be held at number of venues around Beirut from 5th until 7th of October, and unique wristbands will allow attendance to all the programs and events.
More international acts, local performers, venues and timetables will be announced in the coming days, but until then, don't forget to register for free at participate.sharebeirut.net.
